Title: Special Service Aide/Paraprofessional
Position Type: Non-Exempt
Responsible to: Classroom Teacher/Director of Special Education/Principal
Responsible for: Works closely with one or more students with disabilities regularly to provide personal, physical, emotional, behavioral, and classroom assistance
Qualifications:
- Highly qualified status. Must have a secondary school diploma and one (1) of the following:
- At least two (2) years of postsecondary study
- Associate’s degree or higher degree
- Evidence of meeting a rigorous standard of quality through a state or local assessment
- Possesses all clearances required by the district
- Ability and desire to interact with students
- Ability and desire to work in a school environment
- Ability to communicate with teachers, students, other school personnel, and parents
- Pass tests required by the district
- Ability to complete data reports for progress monitoring and ACCESS billing purposes
Work Year: School year as per contract
Performance Responsibilities:
- Assists the student(s) to whom assigned in personal and physical tasks
- Hears the student(s) in recitation, reading, and other curriculum tasks, guiding and helping them but not teaching them
- Performs simple errands and tasks for student(s)
- Accompanies the students(s) to whom assigned to different places in the building as needed
- Establishes a supportive and sympathetic relationship with the student(s) without fostering or encouraging intense emotional involvement
- Serves as a resource person, if and when requested, to the student personnel evaluation team conferring about one of the students to whom assigned
- Performs the tasks associated with the position of teacher aide
- Performs other duties associated with this position as assigned by the principal and/or teacher, or special education director
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently stand, walk, sit, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Physically able to perform job responsibilities, including lifting and handling at least 25 lbs. regularly and at least 50 lbs. on an occasional basis. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision. The employee needs to be able to tell where a sound is coming from and hear in a noisy environment.1
Work Environment:
The work duties of this position are generally performed within a school environment, with standard office and school equipment available.

Position Description
Title: Custodian
Position Type: Non-Exempt
Responsible to: Director of Facilities, Principal, or appropriate Administrator
Responsible for: Routine manual labor associated with the daily cleaning of facilities
Qualifications: Must have the ability to stand for extended periods. Exhibit manual dexterity to use equipment. To see and read printed material with or without visual aids. Speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly. Must have physical agility to lift and carry up to 40 pounds unassisted: to push, pull, bend, stoop, kneel, walk, climb a ladder, and reach overhead.
Necessary and Special Qualifications:
Knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment. Sufficient strength, agility, dexterity, and oral/written communication skills are required to perform all responsibilities. Ability to work outdoors in a variety of temperatures and climate conditions. Ability to travel to more than one work location during the day if assigned to an itinerant position. Ability to operate mechanical cleaning equipment.

Terms of Employment:
- 12 months. Salary determined according to CBA between Trinity Area School District and Trinity Area Education Support Professionals (Maintenance & Custodians)
Performance Responsibilities:
- Monitor school district property and report incidents of concern
- Snow removal, weeding, and mulching flowerbeds and playgrounds
- Remove and properly dispose of trash
- Scrub, strip and refinish floors, dust mop, wet mop, sweep and spray buff floors
- Vacuum, shampoo, and clean rugs and carpet
- Scrub and clean restroom fixtures and keep restrooms supplied
- Dust, polish, and clean by washing walls, doors, windows, lockers, furniture, woodwork, and other above-floor surfaces including those only accessible via a ladder or other established lifting apparatus as required
- Move furniture and set rooms for special events
- Notify the supervisor of equipment conditions and facility needs
- Perform minor building maintenance to include painting areas only accessible via a ladder or other established lifting apparatus as required
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Director of Facilities, principal, or appropriate administrator
- Model non-discriminatory behavior at all times and follow established safe work practices
- Follow established TASD policies and procedures at all times
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is required to stand, walk, sit, talk, and hear. The employee is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Physically able to perform job responsibilities, including occasionally required to lift and handle at least 75 lbs. and push or pull up to 100 lbs. on an occasional basis. Regular exposure to maintenance equipment, chemicals, and products is required. Exposure to weather with temperatures ranging from mild/moderate to extreme cold/heat. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision. The employee needs to be able to tell where a sound is coming from and hear in a noisy environment.1
Work Environment:
The physical environment requires the employee to work inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions, and to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to hazardous materials.
