    Title:                          Teacher – Special Education

    Position Type:        Exempt

    Responsible to:      Building Principal

    Responsible for:    Teaching children with disabilities to understand, overcome, compensate for, and/or adjust to their disability through the use of adaptive instructional strategies, instructional accommodations, individualized learning activities, and specifically designed services

    Qualifications:       

    • Possess a valid certification as a Special Education Teacher
    • Possess the ability to provide all special education requirements in grades Kindergarten to 12
    • Possess the ability to instruct in specific subject areas if the curriculum taught is adjusted to the needs and skills of identified students with disabilities and is different in learning objectives, content and instructional times, instructional methods and materials, expected levels of achievement or procedures for evaluation from those planned courses used to instruct regular education students of comparable chronological age

     

    Work Year:  TAEA contract

    Performance Responsibilities:

    • Assists students with disabilities by using special strategies, including adaptation of curriculum and materials
    • Develops accommodations and specific interventions to meet student needs
    • Incorporates effective instruction methods, learning activities, and specifically designed services
    • Renders diagnostic and prescriptive services in instructional programs, which are designed within an Individual Education Program to serve students having one or more disabilities
    • Offers pre-vocational diagnostic and assessment activities, as well as career-awareness activities such as job shadowing
    • Identifies the interests and abilities of students; provides basic occupational and career information
    • Provides diverse occupational training and community transition or sheltered workshop experiences for students whose IEP requires such activities
    • Co-teaches in a regular education classroom and assists in curriculum modification
    • Conducts student activities including paid/unpaid work experience in a community-based operation
    • Involves the business enterprise of the employee in paid or unpaid settings and the coordination of job training agreements
    • Ensures appropriate placement of students in a work or community transition setting related to their career objectives

    Physical Demands:

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently stand, walk, sit, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Physically able to perform job responsibilities, including lifting and handling at least 25 lbs.. regularly and at least 50 lbs. on an occasional basis.   • Title: Assistant Director of Special Education
    Position Type: Exempt
    Responsible to: Director of Special Education
    Responsible for: The Assistant Director of Special Education shall provide leadership and
    supervision of the special education programs and services, K-5, to ensure
    that students with disabilities are appropriately served and supported in
    the least restrictive environment.

    Qualifications:
    ● Possess a Pennsylvania-approved Supervisor of Special Education Certificate
    ● Possess expertise in both spoken and written communication with the ability to work
    with the public
    Work Year: 260 Days
    Performance Responsibilities:
    ● Keeps informed of all legal requirements governing special education
    ● Evaluates existing programs as an ongoing responsibility and recommends changes and
    additions as needed
    ● Provides leadership in recommending new programs and developing an improved
    understanding of existing programs
    ● Follows procedures for placement, evaluation, assignment, and re-evaluation of students
    with regard to the special needs, Chapter 14, 15, and 16 students
    ● Follows procedures for referral, securing medical reports, psychological examination,
    and placement
    ● Assists in recruitment, selection, and recommendation for hiring of any special
    education personnel
    ● Assumes responsibility for compiling, maintaining, and filing all reports, records, and
    other documents legally required or administratively useful
    ● Develops and maintains complete and cumulative individual records of all children
    receiving special education services or enrolled in special education classes (Chapter 14,
    15, and 16 qualified students)
    ● Arranges for the transportation of all children with disabilities who require special
    transportation, while addressing transportation needs/concerns as they arise.
    ● Makes recommendations for requisitioning, ordering, and acquiring materials and
    equipment, based on student need
    ● Consults with parents of students enrolled in the special education program
    ● Assumes responsibility for own professional growth and development; (keeping current
    with literature, new research findings, and improved techniques, and for attending
    appropriate professional meetings and conventions)

    ● Collaboratively Plans and conducts staff development meetings and professional
    development
    ● Monitors teacher compliance with mandated regulations
    ● Assists in the development of district policies and administrative rules that relate directly
    to the primary duties of the Director of Special Education
    ● Assist in facilitating the staff development for all TASD special service aides
    ● Assist in scheduling the academic programs, staffing, and transportation for all ESY
    students
    ● Assists in supervising all Special Service Aides and completes the schedules of each aide
    ● Coordinates and collaborates with related service providers, such as OT, PT, Hearing,
    Vision, and Speech
    ● Provides individualized coaching/instruction to teachers not following regulations
    related to IDEA to ensure district compliance
    ● Uses technology resources to enhance communication with special education staff and
    parents
    ● Assists in holding parent trainings as required through PDE
    ● Makes recommendations when a Special Education Revision Notice is required to the
    district’s Special Education Plan, per PDE requirements
    ● Holds Special Education Department meetings at elementary and intermediate school
    levels.
    ● Maintains communication with parents, staff, and agencies by returning phone calls,
    voicemails, and emails promptly
    ● Organizes the Special Education Office for effective, efficient daily function and provide
    daily direction to clerical staff regarding tasks and projects to be completed
    ● Helping to reinforce and oversee district policies, procedures, and guidelines
    ● Acts as the LEA for students who attend out-of-district private academic and approved
    private school educational placements
    ● Assists in the data collection for state reporting and the development of required special
    education reports (i.e., special education plan, contingency reports, Act 16)
    ● Performs all other duties assigned by the immediate supervisor, Assistant
    Superintendent and/or Superintendent of Schools

  • Title:                          School Police Officer

    Position Type:        Non- Exempt

    Responsible to:      Superintendent

    Responsible for:    Preserving and protecting all district students, personnel and property and promoting issues of school-wide safety

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Evidence of Act 120 training
    • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience as a certified police officer
    • Experience working with juveniles and the Juvenile Court System
    • Knowledge of School Law
    • Knowledge of technology as related to specific job functions

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Associate Degree in Law Enforcement field
    • Minimum of five (5) years as a supervisor

     

    Work Year:              180 days

     

    Performance Responsibilities:

    • Serve as the student safety coordinator and work in conjunction with the director of transportation
    • Work closely with administrators regarding campus activities
    • Inspect school premises prior to opening and closing in regards to security
    • Supervise authorized student gatherings at various campus locations at the direction of the Superintendent
    • Assist with school bus supervision before and after school at the direction of the Superintendent
    • Monitor students, campus, and parking lots during lunch break, before school, and after school
    • Tour the campus to ensure that school and district policies are being enforced
    • Exhibit good judgment and initiative in emergency situations
    • Establish and maintain good rapport with students
    • Investigate issues of harassment, bullying, assault, vandalism, smoking and other offenses as determined by the principal
    • Evaluate the district’s security program on a continuing basis and recommend changes or draft plans as necessary
    • Coordinate any special security needs as deemed necessary for public meetings and school events
    • Work with administrators, faculty and staff and students at each school to ensure proper security and safety measures are implemented as related to employees, property, and facilities
    • Maintains current data on juveniles involved in the criminal justice system and assure that proper notification to school personnel is made as prescribed by Pennsylvania Statute
    • Develop and coordinate an ongoing staff development program for employees who have security responsibilities
    • Serve as a district contact person to provide or coordinate in-service activities for student groups on various aspects of school security as requested by the principal
    • Develop and implement strategies to minimize property loss and maintain inventory control
    • Work closely with local law enforcement agencies and the school administration regarding the scheduling of regular building checks, routine security procedures, and special security problems
    • Act as a liaison with public safety authorities and school resource officers on all matters affecting school security
    • Develop and implement prevention strategies with the principals in an effort to minimize the likelihood of school violence
    • Conduct presentations to various community groups and organizations relative to school security
    • Court Work- schedule necessary cases for court; complete associated paperwork; conduct pre-court investigation; prepare recommendation for pre-trial hearing; present recommendation at hearing; make referrals to any appropriate agencies
    • Attend Student Assistant Meetings-make recommendations to the team; conduct one on one counseling with clients
    • Speak to classes about juvenile crime, drugs, alcohol, teen pregnancy, bullying, and careers in law enforcement
    • Emergency/crisis situations-partner with school resource personnel and the local police to develop crisis/emergency plans; respond to district- wide/school community emergencies
    • The district will provide the school police officer a proper state ORI number
    • Approves facility use permit per board policy and agreements with other municipalities

    • Conduct Alert Lockdown Inform Counter Evacuate (ALICE) Trainings

  • Trinity Area School District is looking for a full-time hall/traffic monitor. This job would require the candidate to work forty hours per week and be able to work both indoors and outdoors during possible inclement weather. The candidate is responsible for maintaining a safe and orderly environment within the school premises by overseeing student movement in hallways and common areas. Key duties include monitoring hallways during class transitions, the school cafeteria during lunch periods, and directing traffic during arrival and dismissal times. This would require the directing of school transportation and also pedestrian and vehicular traffic during arrival and dismissal times to ensure the safety of students and staff. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication and interpersonal skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving. This job will pay seventeen dollars per hour and also full medical benefits.

    Responsible for:    Works closely with one or more students with disabilities regularly to provide personal, physical, emotional, behavioral, and classroom assistance

    Qualifications:       

    • Highly qualified status. Must have a secondary school diploma and one (1) of the following:
    • At least two (2) years of postsecondary study
    • Associate’s degree or higher degree
    • Evidence of meeting a rigorous standard of quality through a state or local assessment
    • Possesses all clearances required by the district
    • Ability and desire to interact with students
    • Ability and desire to work in a school environment
    • Ability to communicate with teachers, students, other school personnel, and parents
    • Pass tests required by the district
    • Ability to complete data reports for progress monitoring and ACCESS billing purposes

    Position Description

     

    Title:                          Custodian

    Position Type:        Non-Exempt

    Responsible to:      Director of Facilities, Principal, or appropriate Administrator

    Responsible for:     Routine manual labor associated with the daily cleaning of facilities

    Qualifications:        Must have the ability to stand for extended periods. Exhibit manual dexterity to use equipment. To see and read printed material with or without visual aids. Speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly. Must have physical agility to lift and carry up to 40 pounds unassisted: to push, pull, bend, stoop, kneel, walk, climb a ladder, and reach overhead.

    Necessary and Special Qualifications:

                                        Knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment. Sufficient strength, agility, dexterity, and oral/written communication skills are required to perform all responsibilities. Ability to work outdoors in a variety of temperatures and climate conditions. Ability to travel to more than one work location during the day if assigned to an itinerant position. Ability to operate mechanical cleaning equipment.

    • Perform minor building maintenance to include painting areas only accessible via a ladder or other established lifting apparatus as required
