    Position Description

    Title: Director of Athletics/Activities

    Responsible to: Superintendent and/or designee


    Responsible for: Supervising the following personnel: Assistant Director of Athletics and Activities, Strength and Conditioning Coach and all Athletic Trainers. All coaches, activity sponsors, workers at athletic events, sponsors of recreation programs, athletes participating in programs, managers of athletic teams, and all other persons employed for athletic events


    Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree required
    • Possess five years of related experience as coach or administrator
    • Possess examples of demonstrated leadership positions with area of athletics
    • Possess experience in the areas of community relations and student activities
    • Possess experience in maintaining financial records


    Work Year: 260 Days


    Performance Responsibilities:
    1. Reports to the Superintendent/and or designee directly for all matters involving interscholastic and intramural athletics, school activities and all recreation programs
    2. Arranges schedules for all interscholastic athletic contests and maintains necessary documents in the director's office
    3. Arranges transportation for all athletic teams, band and cheerleaders with the Coordinator of Transportation
    4. Contracts and provides payment for all home game officials
    5. Maintains complete athletic records for all sports
    6. Attends and supervises all “large” secondary athletic events and activities. For example:
    home football games, basketball games and wrestling matches, etc.
    7. Attends all other games, meets, contests or appoints a representative to act as his designee
    8. Keeps a log of all events/games
    9. Maintains a thorough knowledge of PIAA and WPIAL rules and regulations
    10. Prepares district facilities for events
    11. Prepares the budget each year to cover the required expenditure necessary to conduct the total interscholastic, intramural athletic program, and activities programs
    12. Submits requisitions for all athletic equipment and supplies
    13. Keeps on file a complete financial record of receipts and expenditures
    14. Keeps an inventory of all athletic equipment and supplies
    15. Works with principals to monitor the eligibility of all athletes
    16. Arranges for all athletes to have medical examinations
    17. Checks to see that all athletes are properly covered by insurance

    18. Approves all recommendations for athletic awards
    19. Holds professional meetings with members of the athletic department.
    20. Holds a professional mandatory meeting with all coaches at the beginning of each season to review procedures, safety, facility use, and academic requirements
    21. Organize and monitor all documents pertaining to head coaches and volunteer coaches

    22. Evaluates all coaches annually using a specific evaluation system. There will be an end-of-the-season meeting and evaluation completed at the end of each season for every head coach
    23. Coordinates the care, maintenance, and storage of all athletic equipment
    24. Assists the high school principal in planning and arranging for pep rallies, award assemblies, parent night, and homecoming
    25. Works with all coaches in planning, implementation and evaluation of their respective programs
    26. Stimulates cooperation between coaches of various sports and between coaches, teachers, and administrators concerning general athletic policies
    27. Represents the school at athletic meetings when assigned
    28. Coordinates the publicity and press releases concerning athletics
    29. Attends all Athletic Committee Meetings when requested
    30. Attends the school board meetings when requested
    31. Works with coaches to ensure the clear communication of student-athlete award ceremonies or public recognition opportunities
    32. Facilitates a “Leadership Academy” to train and routinely meet with team captains, premier athletes, or players aspiring to be team captains or leaders. Students would earn an athletic leadership certificate upon completion of the program.
    33. Supervises the Assistant Director of Athletics and Activities and assigns duties
    34. Supervises the Strength and Conditioning Coach and assigns duties
    35. Supervises Intramural Sports: designs, plans, implements and evaluates all intramural programs and student-based programs, coordinating this program with the interscholastic programs in regard to staffing, facilities, schedules and program integration
    36. Annually facilitates NCAA information and communication to athletes and parents each year. A meeting should be scheduled annually
    37. Annually facilitates a college athlete presentation to Trinity athletes to discuss and learn about the college-athlete-life
    38. Assists in planning and facilitating the Distinguished Alumni Event
    39. Liaison to the Trinity Athletic Hall of Fame Committee
    40. Works with Trinity youth organizations to coordinate and schedule appropriate use of facilities, determines approved group status, and maintains appropriate and current documentation
    41. Identifies sponsors for advertisement opportunities
    42. Informs and educates District-approved booster groups about District policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with all eligibility rules
    43. Ensures all arrangements are made for teams advancing to district and state playoffs, including transportation, lodging, and meals

    44. Stays updated on developments in athletics by attending relevant conferences and workshops, reviewing appropriate literature, and sharing information from professional associations with coaches and booster groups
    45. Prepares for ticket collection at designated events, reconciles gate receipts, deposits funds in a timely manner, and maintains records of tickets sold
    46. Oversees athletic trainers, establishes guidelines for training room use, and observes activities to ensure safety, adequacy, and proper utilization
    47. Collaborates with district administration to recommend facility improvements related to athletic programs and activities
    48. Works with security personnel to develop and implement a public safety plan for interscholastic athletic contests, reports safety issues to principals and the Superintendent, and recommends improvements
    49. Manages and oversees the organization and execution of summer camp programs
    50. Recruits and recommends qualified coaching personnel for the athletic department
    51. Ensures compliance with and enforcement of rules and regulations governing interscholastic athletics (PIAA)
    52. Updates social media platforms with relevant and appropriate information
    53. Develops content and graphics for school videoboards and televisions
    54. Conducts meetings with middle school students to promote program participation
    55. Submits appropriate information for inclusion in Hiller Highlights
    56. Plans and organizes operations for graduation events
    57. Performs all other functions and tasks as assigned by the Superintendent and/or designee

    Title:                          Special Service Aide/Paraprofessional

    Position Type:        Non-Exempt

    Responsible to:      Classroom Teacher/Director of Special Education/Principal

    Responsible for:    Works closely with one or more students with disabilities regularly to provide personal, physical, emotional, behavioral, and classroom assistance

    Qualifications:       

    • Highly qualified status. Must have a secondary school diploma and one (1) of the following:
    • At least two (2) years of postsecondary study
    • Associate’s degree or higher degree
    • Evidence of meeting a rigorous standard of quality through a state or local assessment
    • Possesses all clearances required by the district
    • Ability and desire to interact with students
    • Ability and desire to work in a school environment
    • Ability to communicate with teachers, students, other school personnel, and parents
    • Pass tests required by the district
    • Ability to complete data reports for progress monitoring and ACCESS billing purposes
       

    Work Year:   School year as per contract

    Performance Responsibilities:

    • Assists the student(s) to whom assigned in personal and physical tasks
    • Hears the student(s) in recitation, reading, and other curriculum tasks, guiding and helping them but not teaching them
    • Performs simple errands and tasks for student(s)
    • Accompanies the students(s) to whom assigned to different places in the building as needed
    • Establishes a supportive and sympathetic relationship with the student(s) without fostering or encouraging intense emotional involvement
    • Serves as a resource person, if and when requested, to the student personnel evaluation team conferring about one of the students to whom assigned
    • Performs the tasks associated with the position of teacher aide
    • Performs other duties associated with this position as assigned by the principal and/or teacher, or special education director

     

    Physical Demands:

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently stand, walk, sit, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Physically able to perform job responsibilities, including lifting and handling at least 25 lbs. regularly and at least 50 lbs. on an occasional basis. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision. The employee needs to be able to tell where a sound is coming from and hear in a noisy environment.1

    Work Environment:

    The work duties of this position are generally performed within a school environment, with standard office and school equipment available.

    Position Description

     

    Title:                          Custodian

    Position Type:        Non-Exempt

    Responsible to:      Director of Facilities, Principal, or appropriate Administrator

    Responsible for:     Routine manual labor associated with the daily cleaning of facilities

    Qualifications:        Must have the ability to stand for extended periods. Exhibit manual dexterity to use equipment. To see and read printed material with or without visual aids. Speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly. Must have physical agility to lift and carry up to 40 pounds unassisted: to push, pull, bend, stoop, kneel, walk, climb a ladder, and reach overhead.

    Necessary and Special Qualifications:

                                        Knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment. Sufficient strength, agility, dexterity, and oral/written communication skills are required to perform all responsibilities. Ability to work outdoors in a variety of temperatures and climate conditions. Ability to travel to more than one work location during the day if assigned to an itinerant position. Ability to operate mechanical cleaning equipment.

    Terms of Employment:

    Performance Responsibilities:

    • Monitor school district property and report incidents of concern
    • Snow removal, weeding, and mulching flowerbeds and playgrounds
    • Remove and properly dispose of trash
    • Scrub, strip and refinish floors, dust mop, wet mop, sweep and spray buff floors
    • Vacuum, shampoo, and clean rugs and carpet
    • Scrub and clean restroom fixtures and keep restrooms supplied
    • Dust, polish, and clean by washing walls, doors, windows, lockers, furniture, woodwork, and other above-floor surfaces including those only accessible via a ladder or other established lifting apparatus as required
    • Move furniture and set rooms for special events
    • Notify the supervisor of equipment conditions and facility needs
    • Perform minor building maintenance to include painting areas only accessible via a ladder or other established lifting apparatus as required
    • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Director of Facilities, principal, or appropriate administrator
    • Model non-discriminatory behavior at all times and follow established safe work practices
    • Follow established TASD policies and procedures at all times

     

    Physical Demands:

The employee needs to be able to tell where a sound is coming from and hear in a noisy environment.1

     

    Work Environment:

    The physical environment requires the employee to work inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions, and to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to hazardous materials.
